I have always been the dog lover of the family. I even worked at the pet hotel in PetSmart for a short period of time. After my family’s dog, Chip, died in 2016 the house wasn’t the same. A house just isn’t a home when you’re a dog lover and there’s no one greeting you at the door, the tippy, taps of dogs running on the floor, or extra snuggles you get in the morning when it’s chilly outside. This is my dog’s adoption story.
I moved in with my boyfriend about 3 years ago. At first, we were unable to find a dog-friendly place to rent. Also, I really wanted to wait until we had a house with a yard before we adopted a dog. About a year ago we bought a house, and I was already planning on adopting a dog.
On July 4th I was volunteering at the shelter and the dog I had originally fell in love with had been adopted. This was a blessing in disguise. I was walking around the kennels trying to decide who to take out to the play yard when I noticed Brandy, who was formally Brinda or Brownie. Once I brought her out to the yard she ran, sat, and rolled over. I instantly fell in love with Brandy. I stayed with her the whole day so no one else would notice her. When it was time for me to go, I told her I’d be back in two sleeps (two days).
On July 6th, 2019 we woke up early and went to adopt Brandy. Faith brought Brandy and I together. If we would have gotten there a minute later, I wouldn’t have been able to adopt her. Literally like a minute after we arrived someone else showed up to adopt Brandy. Since then we have been inseparable, she’s my heart dog and I don’t know what I would do without her.

Such a beautiful story. I became a dog lover when I adopted my doggy Lola 3 years ago. Never had pets when I was a kid, but now I know I wouldn’t be happy without her. She completes my family and even had a human baby brother.
Carol,
Dogs really do complete us. I’m happy to hear you adopted Lola.
